This volume arose out of two workshops (2008 and 2009) and a joint research undertaking involving members of the law faculties of Goethe U., Germany (where Zekoll is affiliated) and Tulane U., US (where Handl is affiliated). Zumbansen (York U., Canada) is the third member of the editorial team, and the three editors are also contributing authors.
