This volume collects 22 papers from the eponymous April 2007 conference at the Centre de Rechereches Mathématiques, Montréal, Canada in honor of mathematician John McKay. The principle focus is given to those areas in which John McKay has made pioneering contributions: "monstrous moonshine," which is used to describe the connection between the monster group M and the theory of modular functions, and the "McKay correspondence," which relates certain finite groups to Lie groups.
