She covers broiler chickens, poultry packing stations, battery birds, veal calves, other intensive units, the basis of quality quantity versus quality, and cruelty and legislation. This edition contains Rachel Carson's foreword to the original, as well as commentary by Marian Stamp Dawkins and other animal behavior and welfare specialists.
