The material catalogued in this impressive volume was found at the Agora in Athens during excavations that took place from the 1930's to the 1950's. Earlier volumes have catalogued other types of wares from the site and accordingly, this volume follows the same format, providing initial discussion of each type of ware, followed by a catalogue of all the fragments for that type. Types of ware include Eastern sigillata A and B, Italian and Gaulish terra sigillata, red-gloss wares of the Pergamon region, lead-glazed ware, and unguentaria and ampullae. The entries include a description, reference to the site where found, dimensions, and era (when known). An extensive set of excellent quality b&w plates present drawings, sections, and photos of each fragment. The volume, which is oversized (9.25x12.25"), contains an exhaustive bibliography and appendices with deposit summaries, including deposit summaries by ware.
