Bukovnik (b. 1947) paints flowers, a challenging undertaking given the long history of this endeavor. This lavish, large-format book (11.25x11.25") presents 63 of his watercolor paintings. Text consists of a foreword by Louis A. Zona (Butler Institute of American Art), and introductory essay by Carter E. Foster (curator of drawings, Whitney Museum of American Art), an interview with the artist conducted by Clare Henry (art critic, Financial Times), a chronology, and a list of selected exhibitions, the earliest in 1976 at the San Jose Museum of Art, the most recent in 2005 at galleries in San Francisco and Cleveland.
