Published in conjunction with a exhibition of her work in Santa Clara U. this memoir recounts the story of Hisako Hibi's life, beginning with her birth in a Japanese farming village, her immigration to the US at age 14; to her three-and-a-half year incarceration in internment camps for Japanese-Americans, and her life afterwards. The main focus of the book is Hibi's role as wife, mother of two, and artist, inside California and Utah internment camps. Color plates of 24 of her paintings are displayed, as well as 19 black & white images. The book includes a list of exhibitions and honors, and a bibliography.
