John A. Hobson (1858-1940) was an important British New Liberal political theorist and political economist who influenced both Lenin and Keynes. John M. Hobson (politics and international relations, U. of Sheffield) and Tyler (politics and international relations, U. of Hull) have collected a number of previously unpublished lectures that he delivered to the South Place Ethical Society in London, along with typescript versions of two lectures published in 1938. These are some of the very few of his lectures that remain unpublished, they say. Among the topics are the political and discursive tap-roots of imperialism, the struggle for the international mind, the will to power April 1933, and the sense of responsibility.
