Hoffman (U. of Missouri) et al. present a theory of Hardy and BMO spaces associated to a non-negative, self-adjoint operator satisfying Davies-Gaffney bounds on a metric space with a doubling measure. The monograph shows that the square function and atomic Hardy spaces are equivalent, and establishes additional characterizations of Hardy space in terms of maximal functions.
