Hornyak's 30-plus years in the sciences include 15 years of nanotechnology research and development; Moore is with the Colorado School of Mines, Tibbals with the U. of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and Dutta with the Asian Institute. The authors combine two earlier publications, Introduction to Nanoscience and Fundamentals of Nanotechnology, into a single, updated textbook for a one-year course in nanoscience and nanotechnology. The first half of the text covers the perspectives, nanotools, physics properties and phenomena, chemical synthesis and modification, and biological aspects related to nanoscience. The second half focuses on technological nanoengineering, with an opening introduction and metrology section followed by chapters on electromagnetics, mechanics, chemical engineering, and biological and environmental topics related to nanotechnology.
