Citing more recent reflections in a distant mirror in both Bush and Obama presidencies, Hughes demonstrates how the Nixon tapes (2/16/71-7/12/73) debunked the (persisting) Nixon myth, which enabled him to deny responsibility for losing Vietnam. The author lays out Nixon and Kissinger’s immoral secret strategy to prolong the War until Nixon was safely elected in 1972--a strategy originating in Cold War politics, which blamed the opposing party, buying time as thousands died. There are more than 50 sections or unnumbered chapters. Samples are: Vietnamization; how to kill a withdrawal deadline; the Liberal mistake; the appearance of success, Kissinger v. Thieu; the Chennault affair; Nixon’s Dolchstosslegende; how wars don’t end; questions unasked. Annotation ©2015 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
