The ten papers presented by Hüser (Bayer Pharma Research, Germany) review research on aspects of experimental drug discovery using high-throughput screening, which combines medicinal chemistry, biology, and laboratory automation. After introducing the conceptual basics of the technique, the tools and technologies that facilitate automated screening are described.
