Imberger (water research, U. of Western Australia) explains some of the tools for waste cycling, rather than disposal, where all three stages of the process are given equal importance. The first stage is removing waste from the immediate location where it is generated. The second is to dilute it to levels conducive for the microbial world. The third and largely neglected stage is placing the waste in an environment and a state that fosters the transformation of waste to food by microbes. He covers physical quantities, dimensional analysis, scaling, and bulk conservation equations; equations of motion: the axiomatic approach; some exact solutions; the effect of viscosity; fundamentals of hydraulics; environmental hydraulics; mixing in environmental flows; surface waves; and environmental flows.
