This publication from the International Monetary Fund presents analysis and projections of economic developments and policies around the world conducted by the IMF's various area departments together with the Strategy, Policy and Review Department; the Monetary and Capital Markets Department; and the Fiscal Affairs Department. The forecast is based on two key assumptions: that European policy-makers will adopt policies that ease conditions in periphery economies and that the US will avoid the "fiscal cliff" (the automatic tax increases and spending cutbacks threatened by budgetary law--this actually already came true), raised the federal debt ceiling, and progress towards fiscal sustainability.
