This annual publication--meant for economists, planners, policymakers, and business people--provides statistics on current performance and trends in the manufacturing sector worldwide from 1994 to 2005. New is the presentation of data on GDP and MVA at constant 2000 prices. The data is used to analyze patterns of growth and long-term trends, structural change, and industrial performance in individual industries. Data is presented in tables that are grouped into two parts: by overall industry and alphabetically by country. Further classifications are by income and level of development, with sections on distribution of value added of selected divisions among developing regions from 2000 and 2006, and the leading producers in selected divisions from the same period. Data covers leading producers in a variety of industries; the share of females in total employment by division; and selected characteristics of the different industries, for example, the number of employees, salaries, output, value added, gross fixed capital formation, and index numbers of industrial production.
