German philosopher Kant (1724-1804) wrote Religion ennerhalb der Grenzen der blossen Vernunft after his three Critiques, and though it is somewhat based on them, also transcends them, explains Pluhar (philosophy, Pennsylvania State U.-Fayette). It has been translated before, indeed as recently as 1996, but he seeks not only to correct errors, but to cast the work in the same terminology that used for his translations of the Critiques over the past several decades. He also notes, with a modest blush, that he is, after all, a native German speaker. Stephen Palmquist (religion and philosophy, Hong Kong Baptist U.) contributes an introduction characterizing the treatise and putting it in the context of Kant's thinking.
