Proceedings from a subsection of the McGill International Entrepreneurship Conference held in Uddavilla, Sweden, this volume brings together academic scholars with broader interests than just business. Here there is an added consideration of geography and regional science, as well as economics and public policy, in order to explore the role of innovation in largely urban regions. A functional region benefits from attracting both knowledge-intensive labor and additional firms seeking to take advantage of the research and development activities in the firms, research laboratories and universities already there. Although most of the papers give examples from specific regions such as Sweden, China, and the UK, the papers are for the most part abstract enough to have wide application.
