Odyssey Marine Explorations is a private company in Tampa, Florida co-founded and run by Stemm. Here is a first collection of reports from its projects. Many of them involve the shipwreck of the SS Republic (1865), which is discussed in terms of experimental deep-sea archaeology, the coin collection, microbiological and chemical analysis of bottles, and religious artifacts. Other topics are the Jacksonville "Blue China" shipwreck and the myth of deep-sea preservation, a preliminary report of the HMS Sussex shipwreck project, deep-sea fishing impacts on the shipwrecks of the English Channel and western approaches, a preliminary survey and identification of first-rate Royal Navy warship HMS Victory lost in the English Channel in 1744, and a note on human remains from that wreck. The volume is beautifully illustrated with color photographs of artifacts both underwater and recovered, but not indexed. Distributed in North America by The David Brown Book Co.
