Each entry takes up a single page, and includes the building's name and date of completion, the address and information on access, the architect's name, a black & white photograph of the exterior, and concise text describing its significance. Indexed by architect, and by location and website. The book includes nine pages of highway maps. Prior to 2000, editions were published as The Whitney Guide to 20th Century American Architecture.
