Leonard offers a detailed study of a papyrus manuscript of the Gospel of Matthew in a minor Coptic dialect, perhaps from the early fourth century, that provides new evidence for transmission and translation practices and other matters of the period. He covers the significance of Codex Schoyen and explanations for its texts; features of mae2 unaffected or minimally affected by translation; syntax and representations of Matthew 5:38-6:18, Matthew 12:3-27, and Matthew 28:1-20; and identifying mae2 allies. The study is a lightly revised version of his 2012 PhD dissertation at Cambridge University, which he has made more accessible to general New Testament researchers by adding translations to Greek and Coptic texts and summarizing or translating passages in French and German.
