Liebregts (American, British, and Anglo-Irish literature; Leiden U.) explores American writer Pound's (1885-1972) use of the Neoplatonic tradition in his prose and poetry, and how it informed his poetics and well as his political and social-economic views. Among his topics are Plotinus, Yeatsian moods and Plotinian ecstasy, Eleusis and the Medieval love ethic, and imagism and vorticism. The major focus, however, is on The Cantos, with discussions of specific sections both in finished version and in drafts and fragments. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
