Family-School Partnering (FSP) is a multi-dimensional process in which schools. families, and communities engage in shared actions to ensure a child's academic, social, and emotional success. With this text, the authors offer a practical guide that demonstrates how this partnering can be strategically implemented in all levels of schooling. They explain the legal and research rationale for partnering and provide theoretical, systemic, and cultural context for the philosophical partnering foundation. Descriptions of staff and family responsibilities are given, followed by a description of data-driven planning for sustainable system change using a simple action planning cycle. Evidence-based programs are briefly reviewed to demonstrate lessons from the field, and a working FSP school is described in detail to provide a practical, real world example. Each chapter includes sample forms, training materials, and data collection tools that readers can use or adapt to their own needs to efficently implement FSP in their schools. These useful resources, with several adaptable slide presentations, are also included on an accompanying CD.
