Majumdar was born in Calcutta, came to the US for graduate studies, and settled with his family in Idaho Falls, on the high desert, where he is a scientific and technical advisor for the US Department of Energy. In 16 essays, he shares his impressions of his home since 1980. A few black-and-white photographs are provided by a photographer at the local newspaper. He has not included an index or bibliography.
