This is the 12th publication in the American Psychological Association's Handbooks series launched in 2010, for researchers, clinicians, graduate students, and professionals in allied fields who seek information about background or emerging trends in the psychology. The set's introduction traces dramatic evolution in the field since the 1950s, and the discipline's current contributions to an understanding of real-world social, political, and health and well-being related issues. A total of 100 contributed chapters are presented in four volumes, each of which focuses on a particular theme and is separately introduced and indexed. Volume 1, Attitudes and Social Cognition, addresses human nature, consciousness and unconsciousness, the phenomenology of daily life, self and other, affect and emotion, and motivation. Volume 2, Group Processes, addresses intra- and intergroup processes. Volume 3, Interpersonal Relations, contains material on major theoretical approaches, biological approaches and health, attraction and relationships, motivation, emotion, empathy, communication, power, friendship, love, and sexuality, among other topics. The fourth volume, Personality Processes and Individual Differences, addresses adaptation, context, and the future of personality psychology (six visions).
