Most of the attention paid to fast-track land reform in Zimbabwe focuses on chaos, economic stagnation, and abuse of the property and human rights of previous white owners, says anthropologist Mutopo, but her study tells a different tale. She presents the findings of an iterative multi-site ethnography at Merrivale farm, Tavaka village, and several sites in South Africa. The research reveals how the dynamics generated by fast-track land reform can offer new development opportunities, especially for women, and her findings challenge existing expert notions and opinions about women's rural land use, livelihoods, and rural development. The study began as her PhD dissertation at the University of Cologne in 2012. Annotation ©2014 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
