Leonora Curtin Paloheimo was a key figure in the revival and appreciation of traditional Spanish New Mexican crafts and artisans during the Depression era. Among other accomplishments, she organized Santa Fe's Native Market. Nestor draws on clippings, financial records, and photos from the collection of the Colonial New Mexico Historical Foundation, as well as interviews with many people, in this study of the Native Market. Numerous b&w historical photos show craftsmen at work and catalog crafts including furniture, textiles, tinwork, and woodwork. This edition contains a new, brief foreword by George Paloheimo, Leonora's son. Annotation ©2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
