This second edition of the casebook contains materials from the 2007 seventh edition of Health Care Law and Ethics that are concerned specifically with bioethics and public health law, with the intent of providing both a teaching tool and a resource for ongoing research in health care law. Orentlicher (Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis), Bobinski (U. of British Columbia Faculty of Law), and Hall (law and public health, Wake Forest U.) provide an introductory chapter on the background of the information as well as offering several approaches to teaching the course; the introductory chapter is followed by sections on topics such as the treatment relationship; the right and "duty" to die; the control, use, and allocation of body parts via organ transplants; reproductive rights and genetic technologies; and public health law. Each section includes multiple subtopics, and the publication includes a glossary of organizational terms and acronyms and a table of cases.
