Essays by Papadopoulos and colleagues working on archaeological projects at the Athenian Agora are combined here with the lifelike watercolor illustrations of the site by Piet de Jong (1887-1967), which are archived at the American School of Classical Studies at Princeton. The illustrations portray materials found at the sight as well as landscapes and simulations of the appearance and society of the Agora in its heyday.
