The second edition of this comprehensive textbook on tropical fruit production provides extensively revised information on the growing, harvesting and post-harvest handling of a variety of tropical fruits. New chapters covering an expanded list of fruits have been added and the work has been divided into two volumes, the second of which is due to be published in 2012. The work combines technical information on genetics and physiology with examinations of cultural farming, harvesting and post-harvest practices to present a balanced overview of tropical fruit farming. Topics discussed include climate and soils, cultivation, tree management and harvest technology and individual chapters address specific fruits including, cherimoya and other Annonas, bananas, avocados, litchi, mangos, papayas and pineapples. Paull is a professor of horticulture at the University of Hawaii and Duarte is the former head of the fruit crops program at the Zamorano Pan-American Agricultural School in Honduras.
