Peck, a family therapist and family business consultant, details a model for mental health professionals and coaches when facilitating conversations with families about money issues. She connects money to values, explaining a "card sort technique" in which two decks represent content and process values. Clients then sort the cards to reflect their values. The bulk of the book consists of chapters on talking to clients in different contexts--couples, single adults, parents of young and grown children, and life transitions--using case studies and vignettes. Cards are provided in the appendix and are available online. Peck heads the Money and Family Life Project at the Ackerman Institute for the Family, from which the data for the ideas in the book were drawn.
