Ian Mason prepared editions of A World Dictionary for publication between 1951 and 1996 but has now decided to turn the project over the Porter, who writes her own books about livestock breeds worldwide. The dictionary lists the livestock names and synonyms that may be encountered in the literature, including those not only of official breeds, but also of other identifiable groups, types, and varieties that have a common origin or are similar in appearance or geographically linked.
