An American scholar of Hebrew and the Old Testament, Price explains the theory for biblical translation that he has been developing since the 1960s. It draws on his linguistic model of biblical Hebrew, which adopted Noam Chomsky's transformational grammar then moved on to a text linguistic model using complex constituents with grammatical and semantic restraints. He details both a generative transformational and an analytical grammar of Hebrew, and discusses creating a knowledge base for Hebrew and an equivalency map, and a computer aid for translating Hebrew to English.
