This edition contains shorter vignettes in each chapter instead of the larger case studies, and three new chapters on Guatemalan, Russian, and Thai heritage. There is an expanded focus on evidence-based practice, and 11 additional chapters online, with their abstracts at the end of the book. It also has more extensive sections on disparities and organizational cultural competence, and a section on evidence-based practice. The description of the model includes application of the concepts of culture to the dominant American society in a cross-cultural way. Contributors work in a variety of health care fields, as well as foreign languages and linguistics, graphic design and language arts, and health law, around the world.
