Ratzinger became Pope Benedict XVI in April 2005. This volume traces the development of his theology through 33 key texts from his earliest writings, through the transition period following his disillusionment with developments in the church in the aftermath of Vatican II, to his frequently polemical writings as part of the Communion project, and his debates and disagreements with fellow theologians and schools of theology. Writings are also included from his time as Prefect of the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, but the emphasis is on him as a private theologian. None of his papal writings are included. The sections are introduced by Boeve or Mannion, who are not further identified. T&T Clark is an imprint of Continuum.
