A translation based on the third German edition of the essay Romischer Katholizismus und politische Form by controversial German political theorist, Carl Schmitt (1888-1985), first published in 1923. The brunt of Schmitt's argument is concerned with the political consequences of Protestant inwardness and worldly asceticism, for which he finds an antidote in the political idea of Catholicism.
