This volume of the anatomy atlas combines illustrations with explanatory text and summary tables in two-page spreads that explain head, neck, and neuroanatomy, including clinical applications and anatomic concepts. The first section covers the head and neck and their bones, ligaments, and joints; classification of the muscles and neurovascular structures; organs and their neurovascular structures; and topographical and sectional anatomy. The second section details neuroanatomy, including the histology of nerve and glial cells, the autonomic nervous system, meninges of the brain and spinal cord, the ventricular system and cerebrospinal fluid, the telencephalon, the diencephalon, the brainstem, the cerebellum, blood vessels, the spinal cord, sectional anatomy of the brain, and functional systems. This edition adds about 30 new two-page spreads on topics like osteoarthritis of the hip joint, compression syndromes and conduction anesthesia of peripheral nerves, shoulder arthroscopy and degenerative changes of the shoulder joint, functions of individual muscles and symptoms associated with shortening or weakening, and diagnostic imaging of the large joints. It also adds spreads on foundational information on common imaging planes for plain film, MRI, and CT scans; the structure of skeletal muscle fibers; the structure and chemical composition of haline cartilage; and the regeneration of peripheral nerves. Online access to images and self-testing tools is included. Annotation ©2016 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
