For educational leaders, both school and central administrators and lead teachers and administrators in higher education, this volume addresses ethical decision making, based on Gross's Turbulence Theory and Shapiro and Stefkovich's Multiple Ethical Paradigms of justice, critique, care, and the profession. Shapiro (educational administration, Temple U.) and Gross (educational leadership and policy studies, Temple U.) present these theoretical frameworks and how to use them in making ethical decisions, which are followed by seven cases of ethical dilemmas covering race and ethnicity, social class, sexuality and gender, religion, diverse learners, and security issues. Cases were developed by practitioners from the US, many who are also graduate students, and some faculty members who have been in leadership positions. The last section introduces the movement for educational leadership in the US, Canada, Australia, Taiwan, and the UK called the New DEEL (Democratic Ethical Educational Leadership) that connects to the values of the theories presented in the book. The book is meant for educational leadership, educational administration, and teacher education programs. Annotation ©2008 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
