While Western theories and practices of organizational behavior clearly have limitations in non-Western contexts, they are not wholly inapplicable, especially when it comes to India, observes Sinha (psychology and management, ASSERT Institute of Management Studies, India), because the nature of technology, products, and services do not differ greatly and also because Indian culture subsumes a major part of Western culture. His treatment of organizational behavior, then, attempts to capture this confluence, presenting basic Western perspectives about organizational behavior, adding research findings from other parts of the world, and situating them within the Indian cultural perspectives. He has arranged the material into four sections that trace the history of organizational behavior as embedded in Indian culture, the key concepts of organizational behavior as applied to individual-level processes, group-level processes and the impact of Indian culture, and the joint impact of global and Indian culture on organizational-level functions.
