The third edition of this primary text for a CNC course adds expanded material on CNC lathes with live tooling, more programming examples, additional formulas and calculations, and new material on the latest Fanuc and related control systems. The enclosed CD-ROM contains a fully functional 15-day shareware version of the CNC tool path editor/simulator, NCPlot. The CD-ROM also contains training exercises based on individual chapters, along with solutions and detailed explanations. Special programming and machining examples are provided as well, in the form of complete machine files, useful as actual programming resources. Virtually all files use Adobe PDF format, and are set to high resolution printing. Smid is a consultant and trainer in CNC and CAD/CAM applications.
