The Burton Acres Shell Midden is located on Vashon Island in Puget Sound, at an advantageous spot for fishing and shellfishing. During a two-week period in 1995, 375 volunteers excavated and cataloged artifacts that had been uncovered during a severe winter storm. In this volume, contributions from tribal members, archaeologists, and historians present and explain the data gathered at the site.
