Most studies conducted to examine the growth performance of developing countries are based on the traditional neoclassical growth frameworks. Here, Taylor (economics, Murdoch University, Australia) takes an alternative approach. He blends neoclassical, Kaldorian, and endogenous growth frameworks to shed further light on the economic growth process. Whereas most cross-sectional growth analyses focus only on the steady state, this book attempts to trace the whole growth path. In doing so, it addresses important factors and issues associated with economic growth, and aims to answer one of the hardest and most fundamental questions: how can poor countries be steered onto the path to sustained growth? The book will be of interest to students of development studies, Asia studies, and public policy, in addition to research scholars and practitioners, including government officials and policymakers.
