A new model is provided for developing technology-based instruction for traditional, adult, and distance education students, involving a five-step process focused on the learner, learning theories, resources, delivery modalities, and outcomes. An opening chapter covers principles of pedagogy and the educational psychology of behaviorism. A section on the learner recognizes the contributions of major cognitive theorists Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, and Erik Erikson, and reviews the theories of Abraham Maslow, Lawrence Kohlberg, and Carl Rogers. It also describes major instructional applications of moral character education, open education, and cooperative learning. Appendices provide lesson plan templates for all three types of students, and primers on constructing text, visual, and web-based instructional materials, plus an extensive glossary. B&w screenshots, images, and process diagrams are included. Tomei is professor of education at Robert Morris University. Annotation ©2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
