The 27 chapters of this work, written by leading researchers worldwide, are divided into 4 sections: on reactive oxygen and nitrogen species; natural and synthetic antioxidants; cellular oxidative stress; and DNA oxidation, oxidative lipidomics, and biomarkers. Each chapter is clearly laid out, with an abstract, list of key words, introduction, clearly outlined text, and full list of references. The method and sequence of research are clearly described and feature both in vitro and in vivo studies, some using EPR spectroscopy for in vivo imaging. Though nowhere noted, the recent dates of the references suggests that the 1998 1st edition has been entirely updated for this 2d edition.
