This text for a two-semester or full-year advanced undergraduate-beginning graduate statistics course differs from other textbooks because it includes a review of bivariate methods and a discussion of methods for statistically controlling for a third variable. Rather than relying on formal mathematics, the text offers written explanations to accompany all equations. Each method chapter is built around a complete research example. Learning features include chapter glossaries, review questions, SPSS examples, and about 20 pages of reference appendices. This second edition contains new chapters on moderation and mediation, new material on missing data and missing values, comparison of standardized regression coefficients across groups, and new examples using bar graphs with error bars. The student website provides data sets, and the instructor site supplies test banks and lecture slides. Warner is affiliated with the University of New Hampshire.
