Delilah Dickinson is in charge of a tourist group taking a cruise on a Mississippi riverboat that's going to stop in Hannibal, Missouri, the town where Mark Twain was raised. She doesn't have any help on this trip since her daughter Melissa and son-in-law Luke are back in Atlanta taking care of the literary travel agency business while she's gone. The cruise that starts in St. Louis is scheduled to be just an overnighter, so Delilah isn't anticipating any problems. But trouble rears its ugly head when one of the members of her tour group turns up dead. His neck is broken, so it's definitely not an accident.

No doubt about it, Ben Webster was murdered, It turns out he'd made quite a few enemies before he expired, and Delilah's list of suspects is getting longer than the Mississippi is wide. When someone breaks into Delilah's cabin, and one murder turns into two, Delilah knows it's time to turn up the heat. Though she's taken quite a shine to handsome actor Mark Lansing who's putting on a one-man Mark Twain show aboard the riverboat, it doesn't seem that Delilah will have much time for flirting.
