Written for intermediate college-level statistics students and intended as a companion to a textbook on the general statistical principles of applied regression, this work focuses on using the R statistical programming environment to perform complex modeling and analysis tasks. Topics discussed include data reading and manipulation, fitting, linear models, generalized linear models, graphs, and writing custom applications. This second edition has dropped all references to the commercially licensed S-Plus version of software in favor of using only the open source R version and several sections of the work have been re-written and include new examples. The work includes access to a specialty R programming add-on package which has also been updated for this new edition. Fox is a professor of sociology at McMaster University, Ontario.
