This third edition of a manual for engineers involved in utility, electrical, and structural engineering has been prompted by changes in the field since 1991. The manual presents detailed guidelines and procedures for developing transmission line structural loads. Although intended as a guide for line 69 kV and above, the application of the concepts in his manual can be justified at lower voltages. After an overview of load criteria, chapters cover weather-related loads, additional load considerations, and wire systems. Examples are given of latticed suspension tower loads, and weight span change with blow-out on inclined spans. Half of the book is taken up with reference appendices of definitions, conversion factors, constants, equations, and supplemental information on structure vibration, force coefficients, ice loading, and special loads. B&w photos, maps, and images are included. Information on the editors is not given. Annotation ©2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
