This is the fourth report of the World Health Organization/International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (WHO/IUATLD) Global Project on Anti-Tuberculosis Drug Resistance Surveillance. The report includes drug susceptibility test results from patients in 95 settings in 81 countries. The data were collected between 2002 and 2007, and represent more that 35% of the global total of notified new smear-positive TB cases. Data from 33 countries that have never previously been reported are included, along with new data from 10 high TB burden countries. For the first time, 36 countries reported data on age and sex of cases stratified by any resistance or by multidrug resistant (MDR) TB.
