This guide for parents of children age birth to three years offers activities and advice for fostering and encouraging successful language development. Chapters are divided into three month increments according to age, for example, chapter one discusses gurgles and coos a newborn may make, while chapter two focuses on the three month old and her advances. Each chapter begins with a quick science lesson about what brain development may be happening at that particular age. Then the chapters discuss age appropriate language and play development. The chapters also contain a great number of interactive activities, along with explanation of the point of each. There are real life stories throughout, as well as helpful milestone language checklists. There are illustrations and bullet points throughout. The text ends with a short chapter discussing when it may be appropriate to talk to a professional about one's child's developmental progress.
