This text is intended for use in a one-semester or one-quarter course introducing basic principles and applications of complex analysis to undergraduates who have no prior knowledge of the subject. Coverage progresses from complex numbers to conformal mappings, with three reference appendices. Each chapter includes chapter- and section-opening introductory comments, and separate sections on applications in each chapter, along with clarifications and cautions throughout, and a review quiz. Exercises include drill-type problems, conceptual word problems, and geometrical problems, with selected exercises included. Although the use of Mathematica is discussed in the text proper, the problems are generic in nature. This second edition retains the same number of chapters (seven), but adds many new problems and examples. The authors are affiliated with Loyola Marymount University.
